Sandy Moore grew up on a cotton farm in Frost, Texas. Her memoir, written as a series of stories that are both funny and touching, and which somehow manage to be very revealing, are interspersed with artwork and photos of her family.
“It was the little girl with her too-big britches, following her daddy, riding horses, driving tractors, fishing, drawing, squeezing the stuffing out of a slew of cats, who really spoke here and filled these pages.”
“Home Permanents” and “Farmer Fishin Eitiquette”, stories about her mother and father respectively, are hilarious and moving.
With a fond heart and a gentle hand, with humor, insight, and this unique voice, Moore reveals a personal and intriguing family dynamic. Her love of the land, the animals, her family, and the people of Frost shine in this entertaining book and remind us all of our childhoods.
